Annual Animal Permits

Annual Animal Permits - Cats & Dogs

The NSW Government has introduced annual permits for non-desexed cats and restricted and dangerous dogs as part of its commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership and improving animal welfare standards.

Pet owners with non-desexed adult cats and restricted and dangerous dogs are required to pay an annual permit, introduced by the NSW Government.

Owners of cats not desexed by four month of ages, and owner’s dogs of a restricted breed or formally declared to be dangerous are required to pay an annual permit in addition to their one-off lifetime pet registration fee.

Anyone registering a cat on the NSW Pet Registry will be informed that they must pay for an $92 annual permit if their animal is not desexed by four months of age.

From 1 July 2020 owners of dogs of a restricted breed or formally declared to be dangerous will be required to pay a $221 annual permit in addition to their one-off lifetime pet registration fee.

You may pay your annual permit online, however your pet must first be registered.

Late fees apply if a permit is not paid by 28 days after the permit requirement took effect.
