From 27 to 30 March 2026, Leaktech will be undertaking inspections of Council’s water mains across the Oberon area as part of a program to identify hidden leaks and reduce water loss.
The inspections use specialist leak detection equipment to locate leaks that may not be visible at the surface. Identifying and repairing these leaks helps improve water efficiency, protect long‑term water supply, and reduce unnecessary water loss across the network.
This work forms part of the Active Leak Detection Project, delivered through the Central NSW Joint Organisation in partnership with the NSW Government. The project supports regional councils to improve the performance and sustainability of local water infrastructure.
The Active Leak Detection Project is part of the NSW Government’s $35.3 million Water Efficiency and Regional Leakage Reduction Program. To date, 27,500 kilometres of water mains have been surveyed, over 4,500 leaks identified, and 9,390 megalitres of water per year repaired by regional councils across NSW.
Residents may notice inspection crews working in their area during this period. These inspections are non‑intrusive and are not expected to disrupt water supply.
