Update from Oberon Youth Council

OYC representatives were joined by their family members to observe how they have grown over the year and to recognise the progress the OYC have made.

The meeting commenced with a talk by Oberon Veterinarian, Tiffany Green, who shared her experiences with choosing a career as a vet and detailed a typical busy day in the life of a vet.

There were a number of items on the agenda for discussion, including the Youth Music Festival to be held on 24 January 2015 at the Oberon Showground; a Community Fun Run on 21 March 2015; Oberon Youth Centre update; a Bike Rack to be installed in the main street of Oberon; the 2015 OYC election and meeting dates; along with the upgrade of the Oberon Skate Park.

Councillor Kathy Sajowitz thanked the Youth Councillors for their involvement and contribution to the Council and hoped they enjoyed the year. As the Council move into 2015, the experience and knowledge of all Youth Councillors will only continue to develop. Councillor Sajowitz expressed her anticipation that they will receive even more nominations to the OYC next year.

The next meeting of the Oberon Youth Council will be held on Thursday 20 November 2014 to plan for the Youth Music Festival to be held 24 January 2015.
