Oberon Biggest Morning Tea
Release Date: Thursday 5 June 2014
On Friday 23 May 2014 Oberon Council and the Oberon Information Neighbourhood Centre hosted the Biggest Morning Tea at the Robert (Bob) Hooper Community Centre.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity for friends, family or workmates to come together, share a cuppa and some delicious food, whilst helping those affected by cancer. The funds raised will help the Cancer Council continue its vital work in cancer research, prevention and support services.
Members of the Oberon Youth Council (OYC) were a wonderful help, serving delicious cakes, sandwiches and refreshments to the community. Some OYC members also walked along Oberon Street offering morning tea to shoppers and businesses, collecting $160.00 in donations along the way.
Many members of the community attended this event and a large number of Council staff donated morning tea. It was an event enjoyed by all and a total of $500.50 was collected.
Thanks to everyone who participated, donated and offered their time to help out. Cancer Council is the largest independent funder of cancer research in Australia, and as a charity, they rely on the generosity of community support to really make a difference.
