A decision in relation to Oberon Council's legal proceedings against forced amalgamations was handed down this morning by Chief Justice Preston in the Land and Environment Court.
Chief Justice Preston dismissed the proceedings. He also ordered the applicants, to pay the respondents costs of the proceedings.
Mayor Kathy Sajowitz says "Oberon Council is disappointed with the decision. We will now consider our position, consult with our legal team and discuss the findings as a Council. Oberon Council has until midday Friday to lodge any appeal against this decision.”
The Oberon community has been resolute in its support of the Council and we will continue to consider the communities view in in regard to any further action.”
