OBERON TO BE FIRST OFF THE RANK IN DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING

Council  met with representatives from Western Area Public Health Unit (WHPHU) on Friday to look at suitable sites to conduct mobile COVID testing in Oberon. This is an initiative being run out across the whole Greater Western Health District.  It will be a drive through service only, people being tested will need to remain in their cars.  The unit will be located in the carpark in Tally’s lane at the rear of the Robert Hooper Community Centre. Participation in this initiative is purely voluntary……residents do not need a referral  to access this testing and no appointments are necessary but it would be preferable if residents could stagger the times they turn up.

It is hoped that the community will take advantage of the service and not be worried that this indicates  a particular  concern that there may be unconfirmed cases in Oberon or that Health NSW has particular concerns for the LGA - this is not the case.  The data collected will inform future relaxing of restrictions and assist with tracking of the virus.
