WASTE VOUCHER EXTENSION & DELIVERY OF RATES NOTICES

Thursday 6 August 2020

Council has extended the expiry date of the 2019/20 waste vouchers. They will be accepted at the Oberon Waste Facility, as well as Burraga and Black Springs Transfer Stations until 31 August 2020. The new waste vouchers will be issued with the 2020-21 Rates Notice in mid August.

HAZARD REDUCTION BURN - HAZELGROVE ROAD

Wednesday 5 August 2020

Rural Fire Service are planning on doing a Hazard Reduction burn along the the Hazelgrove Road on Saturday 8th August 2020 subject to favourable conditions.

Short traffice delays may be experienced and possible smoke hazard. Please drive with caution and to the conditions.

TESTING OF ZOOM COUNCIL MEETINGS

Council has been advised that some members of the public were unable to log into the June and July Ordinary Council Meetings held on Zoom. While Council uses Zoom, it does not control the set up. However, to assist the Oberon Residents we will be holding three test zoom sessions on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th August at 4.00pm to 4.15pm. Get yarned and dangerous - thank you to our wonderful community who are contributing so generously to the Knit for Cancer project by knitting or crocheting a cosy beanie or scarf (or both if you like) which will be either provided to patients undergoing cancer treatment or sold through various support groups and organisations to raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention programs and support services.

Oberon Council is pleased to have been given the opportunity to support and sponsor nine Oberon Women (Oberon Pod) enabling their participation in “The Seed Scheme”.  The Seed Scheme has been created by “The Rural Woman” with the financial support of the Regional Australia Bank.

ABERCROMBIE BRIDGE OPEN

Abercrombie bridge has now been opened.  The bridge is intact and the flood waters are receding.  The road surface is very greasy please drive with caution and to the conditions.

FLOOD WARNING AT ABERCROMBIE BRIDGE - CLOSED

Due to recent rainfall, flooding has occurred at the Abercombie Bridge.  The bridge is currently closed.  Further updates will be provided as the conditions change.  Other minor crossings in Local Government Area are being inspected please ensure you drive to the conditions you encounter.

DRIVE-THROUGH COVID-19 TESTING IS COMING BACK TO OBERON

Western NSW Local Health District drive-through COVID-19 testing service will be revisiting Oberon. The mobile service will be available at the Robert Hooper Community Centre Car Park, 13 Tallys Lane, (entry in Fleming Street and exit at Ross Street) Oberon, on Wednesday 29 July from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
