NSW GOVERNMENT BACKS VISION FOR MALACHI GILMORE HALL

Congratulations John and Lucy on securing funding of $173000 towards the ongoing restoration and fit out of the historic and much loved Malachi Gilmore Hall. Minister for Customer Service the Hon Victor Dominelli along with our Local Member the Hon Paul Toole visited Oberon to present John and Lucy with this very welcome support as part of the NSW Government Infrastructure Grants Program/Clubs Grant Category 3.

News this week from the Hon Melinda Pavey, Minister for Water, Property and Housing that the second attempt by Bathurst Regional Council to procure water from the Oberon Dam has been unsuccessful.  The request was denied due to "the importance of the Fish River Scheme to parts of Greater Sydney's water supply system". The dam is currently sitting at 24.6% and the community are under level two water restrictions.

Every year the NSW Government through the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal set the allowable rate increase for councils. The 2020/21 designated increase has been set at 2.6%. For Oberon this means an approximate increase in revenue of $110,000.

Oberon residents, who are on the town water supply, are encouraged to check their water pipes regularly to ensure there are no leaks in their system.
 

OBERON STREET PAVING WORKS

Contractors ‘Cleveland Property Group’ have been recently awarded the paving repair, pressure cleaning rejuvenation and pavement sealing work project for Oberon Street.
 
A full suite of works will be undertake during the course of the next two to three week period, with contractors commencing pavement replacement and rectification works from tomorrow Saturday 12 June.

The Jenolan Caves Historical & Preservation Society needs your vote! The Society has been nominated for an Essential Energy Community Choices Program Grant and if successful the funds will be used to cover costs to move the archive collection which is offsite due to the Five Mile Road closure, floods & COVID-19 restrictions - and they need to pay removalists to return them.

COVID AWARENESS TRAINING FOR FOOD SERVICES

The NSW Food Authority has partnered with NSW Health to develop COVID-19 awareness for food service, which is a free, voluntary online training course to support food businesses in providing a COVID safe environment. The course includes key advice, links to relevant resources and has a quiz at the end. An acknowledgement certificate is generated on completion of the course.
