My thanks go to our amazing council works staff that went above and beyond to ensure the safety of residents and visitors through the major snow event last weekend. Out all weekend from early morning to late at night in very tough conditions assessing and clearing the roads, then relaying that information for regular distribution via social media by Technical Services Staff.

Bush Fire Danger Period Starts Early

The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) has declared that the start of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) will commence on Sunday 1 September 2019 for the following local government areas:

Butterfactory Lane and Shooters Hill Rd are re-opened. All other major roads in the Oberon local government area are open.

Some roads may have deep snow drifts in localised shaded sections and motorists are advised to use extreme caution in particular being mindful of black ice and to drive to the conditions they encounter.

There will be no further updates unless conditions deteriorate.

Abercrombie Rd, Lowes Mount Rd, Titania Rd and Edith Rd to just past the turnoff to Butterfactory Lane have been re-opened, in addition to the earlier re-opened O’Connell Rd, Duckmaloi Rd and Oberon town streets.
Edith Rd remains closed past the turnoff to Butterfactory Lane towards Jenolan Caves. Butterfactory Lane / Shooters Hill Rd also remains closed due to ice and snow.

All major roads in the Oberon Local Government Area are now open, except for Edith Rd from past the Butterfactory Lane turnoff towards Jenolan Caves where crews are still in attendance clearing the road.

Great news!! The AJS and Matchless Owners Club will be holding their 39th annual Downunder Jampot Rally in the Oberon area from the 1st - 3rd November 2019. Their visit will coincide with all of our Outdoor Week Activities. We look forward to welcoming everyone.

Edith Road has been re-opened.

There has been snowfall and snow flurries today in Oberon and surrounding areas. 

Council crews have been out and about proactively monitoring the road conditions. 

Edith Road from the Gingkin Road turnoff to Jenolan Caves is closed due to snow.

Postponed Official Opening of the Oberon Skate Park

Due to the forecast snow and extreme cold conditions predicated for Saturday the Official Opening of the Oberon Skate Park has been postponed. Council apologises for any inconvenience and will provide further details about the opening as soon as possible.
