Council at its meeting on Tuesday 17 June voted unanimously to approve the change in Library opening hours of 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday, as a permanent arrangement.

With the school holidays starting on 30 June, it is a wonderful opportunity to take a break from the normal routine and do something different. While the weather cools it is great to have some activities for students to enjoy that keeps them active, warm and safe. This year the theme for School Holiday Library Activities will be Christmas in July. The activities are designed for children aged 6-12 years and will be held each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the holidays from 2.00pm to 3.30pm. Parents and care-givers are required to remain for the duration of the activity. Make sure you reserve your child’s place by phoning the Oberon Library on 6329 8220.

The library carries a wide range of DVD titles. Recent arrivals cater for adults and children. PEPPA PIG is very popular amongst the younger set and the newest edition contains 10 fun-filled tales. Due to a serendipitous donation, the Library now has several episodes of the classic western series BONANZA. Complimenting our western collection is Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid and Gene Hackman in the movie WYATT EARP, the most famous lawman in the Wild West. This is a thrilling tale of romance, adventure and courage.

If a western is not your idea of a good movie, perhaps THE BUCKET LIST starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman is more your style. This is an inspirational tale encouraging everyone to seek more joy in our lives. Other new titles include recent Australian TV series; MR & MRS MURDER with Shaun Micallef and Kat Stewart making the audience smile as they tackle varied murder mysteries, and finally, HOUSE HUSBANDS is about Dads raising the kids; with likeable characters and lots of drama.
