Don’t forget to pop into the Library on February 14 for Library Lovers Day. The theme this year is “Make a Date with your Library”. New resources such as books; DVD’s, magazines, e-books and audio books are always being added to the collection. There will be something for everyone I am sure. Tech Savvy Seniors programs are back…funded by the State Library of NSW if you need help with setting up your new smart phone, IPad or tablet maybe a social media account then ring the library to make a booking or obtain further information. Libraries are integral to the social fabric of any town, a safe comfortable place for all.

The official opening of the new viewing platform at the Rotary Lookout at Falls Hill on Abercrombie Road will take place on February 13 commencing at 12.30pm. All welcome. Light refreshments, drinks and ice cream will be available free of charge at the event. The Oberon Rotary Club members have worked hard to complete this project and it looks great.

The Western NSW Local Health District provides a free confidential health care service for women in Oberon on the second Wednesday of every month at the Multi-Purpose Service in North Street. Run by a trained Womens Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, keen to assist with issues from puberty to menopause and beyond. 

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome new St Joseph’s Catholic School Principal Mr Glen Brown to Oberon. I would also like to wish every student at all of Oberon’s amazing schools a successful and happy learning year.

Well known author and poet Noel Hayes will be launching his new book “I Have a Dream” at the Oberon RSL on March 13 commencing at 6pm. Noel has written books about places and people all over Australia. This particular book features a poem about a prominent Oberon personality. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Legacy and the Oberon Sub Branch Museum.  All are welcome to attend.

It is a pleasure to welcome Regional Development Australia – Central West NSW (RDACW) to Oberon this week for the organisation’s AGM and general meeting. RDACW support and facilitate partnerships across government, industry and community to promote growth and realise economic potential across the region. Oberon and the CNSWJO work collaboratively with RDACW to achieve good outcomes for our LGA, this regional partnership has been productive from our perspective opening pathways to government programs and initiatives. The meetings will take place at the Robert Hooper Community Centre.

Bookings are now open to the International Women’s Day (IWD) Lunch to be held at the Oberon Showground on Sunday March 7 as part of NSW Womens Week. The lunch will commence at 12pm.
