The Oberon Anti Amalgamation Committee Rally in support of the Cabonne community was held last Saturday, although Minister Toole was unable to meet with the combined groups the Oberon Group left a letter reinforcing their opposition to forced amalgamations. It was an orderly and respectful gathering.
The “Steel Street” exhibition is attracting a lot of comment from residents and visitors alike, only one week left to vote for your favourite piece. Check out the art works either in the shop windows or inside Oberon business’s.
The NSW/ACT Young Achievers Awards are now open for nominations; the aim of the awards is to promote the positive achievement of our young people. The criteria is simple any young person up to 29 years of age who has contributed significantly to their community is eligible. When taking office I contacted the Mayor of Oberon’s sister city Eceabat in Turkey, to introduce myself and establish contact. I received the following reply and I thought you may be interested to read it. The original response was in Turkish and what follows is a Google translation so please bear with me.
