COUNCILLOR CANDIDATE INFORMATION SESSIONS
Local Government Elections will be held on Saturday 4 September 2021. Oberon Council will hold Candidate Information Sessions for those who are interested in finding out more about becoming a Councillor on Thursday 22 April commencing at 2.00pm and Thursday 29 April commencing at 5.00pm at the Robert Hooper Community Centre, Fleming Street, Oberon.
The Candidate Information Sessions will provide information about the role of Council and the roles and responsibilities of Councillors. It will also provide a background on the system of Local Government and how Council operates, the service and functions that Council provides, what is expected of a Councillor, what support is provided to Councillors and how Councillors get elected. These workshops will be informal and interactive and anyone interested in finding out more is encouraged to attend one of the sessions.
Due to current Covid requirements we ask that people register their interest in attending a session by phoning Council on 6329 8100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The NSW Electoral will also be running a series of webinars from April through to September, specifically for candidates. These will also be recorded and loaded onto the Electoral Commission website www.elections.nsw.gov.au.
