On Thursday this week Councils from across the Central West Region will hold their Centroc Board Meeting at Parliament House, Sydney. For the past two years the Centroc Board have met at Parliament House and been given an opportunity to discuss regional issues with Ministers. With the deadline for the Fit for the Future proposals looming it is a timely opportunity to meet with the State Government regarding issues that affect us on a regional and local level.  From Oberon’s perspective the issue of State Forests land being non-rateable will be high on our list of priorities for discussion.

Columbia Aged Care Services will hold their Official Opening on Friday.  Following years of lobbying by Council and the Oberon Community it is extremely gratifying to see this project finally come to fruition.  The facility will not only give Oberon residents the opportunity to receive quality Aged Care in their own community, it will also mean increased employment opportunities for locals.

The 2015 Oberon Waste to Art Competition and Exhibition will be Officially Opened and Awards Presented at a function at the Robert Hooper Community Centre on Friday 29 May, commencing at 5.30pm.  The event is coordinated by Friends of the Oberon Library and each year it has gone from strength to strength.
