Abercrombie River Bridge Project
Oberon Council in Collaboration with Upper Lachlan Shire Council is jointly undertaking the Abercrombie River Bridge Project with Upper Lachlan Shire Council doing the Bridgework & Oberon Council doing the Roadworks on both sides of the River.
Upper Lachlan Shire Council & Oberon Council have had significant Project delivery assistance from The Office of Environment & Heritage ( OEH ) & Department of Crown Lands ( NSW ) in order to complete the project as quickly as possible.
This is the first time a project has been undertaken across the Boundary of adjoining Councils and with the Cooperation and support of the State & Federal Government creating a unique partnership.
The single lane existing Timber Bridge will be replaced with a new Multi Cell Two ( 2 ) Lane Concrete Box Culvert structure on a new alignment.
The Project is Jointly funded by Upper Lachlan Shire Council / Infrastructure NSW & The Federal Government Bridges to Renewal Program. Oberon Council is carrying out the Roadworks on behalf of the Project Manager - Upper Lachlan Shire Council.
The Planning for this Project has required extensive Consultation with NSW Department of Fisheries, Office Of Environment & Heritage ( OEH ) / National Parks & WildLife Service ( NPWS ), Crown Lands ( NSW ) and the Survey / Assessment & Identification of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Artefacts.
Work is expected to start about early to mid May 2017 and be completed by about October 2017 weather permitting.
As the New Bridge and Roadworks will be on a new Alignment, work will be undertaken with no disruption to traffic.
If you require any further information in relation to the Roadworks, please contact Prasanna Kariyawasam – Project Engineer on 63 298136.
