Last week Friends of the Oberon Library hosted the 7th Annual Waste to Art Competition and Exhibition at the Robert Hooper Community Centre. This annual event has grown from just one entry in 2010 with the Library Crafty Kids holiday workshop group being the first entry which commemorated Kingsford Smiths landing in Oberon in the Silver Streak.
This year there were 105 entries. The exhibit received 350 visitors throughout the week including local school visits, 70 people attended awards evening and opening. Two major works were sold and one schools entry was also sold. Thirteen award winning art works will now go on to represent Oberon at the Regional Exhibition to be held in Orange in early July. The exhibition was judged by Tom Buckland and Colin Fenn.
Congratulations to all exhibitors and our award winners and good luck to those entrants who’s works will go onto the Regional Exhibition.
