MAINTENACE GRADING OF ROADS – Currently there are two graders working on fixing unsealed roads prior to the Christmas/New Year closures. Favourable wet conditions are helping to facilitate this work. Grading this week has been completed on Tuglow and Gingkin Roads and a crew has commenced grading Carlwood Road and will continue onto Bloom Hill, Bosworth Falls and Todd’s Road. Further work will continue on grading Chatham Valley and other roads on the Gingkin area. The third grader continues on construction work at Edith Road preparing the final trim ahead of bitumen sealing scheduled for this week, weather permitting.
RECENT RAIN DAMAGE – Whilst the recent rainfall has been welcomed by most, it has also created some flash flooding events at causeways along a number of roads. Severe isolated events have lashed areas of the Oberon LGA creating damage to a number of roads. Isabella Road was subject of one recent storm event which seen the creek rise quickly to wash a fair amount of gabion rock across the road. This also occurred at Sewell’s Creek Road with debris being washed onto the road. Further, at Gilmandyke debris issues occurred at Thompsons Creek. Staff have been very trying to restore or temporarily make good road until such time resourcing can be engage to properly fix these issues.
