This week Council staff completed the installation of heavy duty steel gates donated by National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS). The Kanangra Walls Road remains closed due to bridge construction work and the continued closure of NPWS trails that sustained heavy damage from the December/January fires.
The new gates will be closed preventing public access to the National Park until such time as the bridge, roadside hazards and other repair works are carried out by Council and NPWS.
Arrangements are currently in hand to remove some rock and provide a new bridging layer of concrete to pre determined levels so as to accept the preformed abutments and deck which is scheduled to arrive on site on the 7th May 2020. At that time contractors will install the reinforcing steel and fill with concrete. This part of the project is scheduled to be completed within two weeks of commencement.
