MR 54 TRUNKEY CREEK ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Oberon Council has been contracted by RMS to carry out private works on a 4km section of road at McGeorges Creek.

Shoulder widening, drainage and back filling works will be tentatively finished by the first week in November. Stabilisation works will commence week commencing 9 November and will take approximately 5- 6 days with a target to complete 400 – 500m of shoulder widening works daily.

We then plan to transition heavy construction plant over to ‘The Avenue’, O’Connell around mid November.

COOK PARK TOILET REFURBISHMENT

Currently Engineering staff are putting a specification schedule of works together for the refurbishment of the Cook Park toilets in Oberon Street. The works will include fitting out the toilets with new cubicles and doors, tiling and repainting internally.  Discussions will be arranged with the Oberon Arts Council and the wider community in order to facilitate a possible facelift for the exterior of the building.

BURRGA ROAD REPAIRS

There are 12 sections of the Burraga Rd pavement that require ‘Heavy Patching’, excavation and drainage improvement works.  Repair work will also be undertaken on the Campbell’s River Rd involving improvement of existing drainage within the roadside embankment.  Up to 5 km of the Burraga Rd network will require bitumen resealing and this work is expected to be completed prior to the Christmas break.

EDITH ROAD REPAIR PROGRAM

Preparations and widening works on the $800,000 road upgrade have commenced over the last 2 weeks.  Construction work will “ramp up” in the next 2 weeks by altering pavement alignment and widening the existing road pavement over the 1.4km section from just beyond the Edith Bridge heading up the hill.

DOG ROCKS ROAD

Work will commence on Dog Rocks Road in the next 2 weeks.  The work will involve widening, new drainage culverts and extensions, new guard rail on the hill and lots of gravel (approx. 8,200 m3) to resurface the 2.9km of currently unsealed road.  Works are expected to take up to 4 weeks to complete and bitumen seal will then be applied making Dog Rocks Road a fully sealed road.
