Drum-muster collections can also be made at the Oberon Waste Depot, although chemical drums must be triple cleaned before disposal. Used engine oil in a drum or tin can also be taken to the Oberon Waste Depot during opening hours to be recycled for free. Only oil from diesel or petrol engines can be accepted. No cooking oils, fats, brake fluid, coolants, fuels, solvents, or paints are allowed. The oil recycling project was funded through a Transitional Assistance Grant by the Product Stewardship for Oil Programme of the Department of the Environment and Water Resources. The Oberon Waste Depot is located 5km from Oberon on the Lowes Mount Road. The Oberon Waste Depot is open from 8am to 10am and 3pm to 5pm weekdays, and 1pm to 5pm on weekends.
